The metro commented on a complaint about an open manhole and leaking valve box on the corner of Park Avenue North and Eighth Street, CBD.
One of the reported leaks was a manhole which was blocked with sewer.
Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says the manhole was also blocked with foreign objects.
“The other manhole was an open valve box which had no water.
“However, the water was emanating from the manhole and valve box from the flats,” he says.
Metro is in the process of procuring heavy duty covers to replace the covers for the valve boxes.
Springs resident Kagiso Selema says the street corner was in a state.
“At least it is clean now and no one can dump foreign objects in the manhole anymore,” he says.
