Two suspects gained entry to a house in Casseldale on Thursday.
The family was watching TV at 9.30pm when they noticed the suspects in their house in Victoria Street.
One of the suspects was armed and pointed the gun at them and ordered them to lie down on the floor.
Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesperson, says the suspect also instructed the family to keep quiet.
The suspect then approached the woman and ripped her ring off her finger while the other suspect searched the rest of the house.
“A laptop and hard drive were taken before the suspect fled the scene in a Nissan Navara,” says Ramphora.
Police are investigating a case of house robbery.
