Traffic lights in Springs still faulty

Two faulty sets of traffic lights were recently reported to the metro.

The robot on the corner of Enstra and Welgedacht roads, Payneville has not been working for the past three weeks.

According to Magda Lourens, who travels on Welgedacht Road to and from work on a daily basis, there are pointsmen on duty to assist with traffic.

“But there are still delays every morning and afternoon,” she says.

Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says the reported intersection is prone to vandalism.

“However, plans to prevent further damages at the intersection are underway,” says Gadebe.

At the Third Street and First Avenue intersection, the light on one of the poles has melted.

This light has been out of order for the past two weeks.

According to Gadebe the intersection was out of order for two days only because of a cable fault and power supply has been reinstated.

However, it is still not working and the melted light has not been replaced yet either.

The red light is flashing and the intersection is being used as a four-way stop.
