Safer roads after Nigel Road and Coaton Avenue are fixed

The Ward 75 councillor says he is happy residents of Springs are enjoying proper road maintenance.

The corner of Nigel Road and Coaton Avenue has been repaired by the Ekurhuleni municipality after being uneven for years, partly in accordance with the road rehabilitation project.

“As you know that Springs is over 100 years to date and potholes patching was no longer helping the situation,” says the ward councillor, Shadow Shabangu.

The road was disintegrating, and potholes were a huge problem.

The road had only been patched previously, but this did not seem to solve the problem.

The municipality has now removed the old tar and started from scratch.

Resident Nthabiseng Buhalie says she is pleased the municipality has repaired the road.

“We can feel the difference when driving on the road. We are just happy the municipality finally did something about it,” says Buhalie.

“With accidents caused at the section I also hope that drivers can stop being careless because now the road is smooth and the lines are even more visible than before.”

Shabangu says, in line with developments in Springs, the municipality is looking into repairing water pressures, improving sidewalks and pruning trees.

The metro had not yet commented at the time of publishing.
