Man attacked on smallholding

Man drives himself to a nearby hospital after he sustained burn wounds to his legs and buttocks during a house robbery.

Springs police are investigating a case of house robbery and assault of a man in Endicott on Tuesday morning.

The man was assaulted by the four suspects and burned with an iron.

He was viciously attacked on his smallholding at Fourth Street at 1.30am.

SAPS spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora says the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was burned on both legs and buttocks with a hot iron after four unknown male suspects overpowered him during a house robbery.

“It is alleged the man was woken by a noise at the back door of his house.

“He investigated the noise and came across four men, three armed with 9mm pistols,” he says.

The suspects only demanded money and searched the house before they assaulted the victim and tied his hands with cable ties.

Ramphora says the perpetrators allegedly know the complainant is a business owner.

After the assault they fled the scene at 4.30am and in an unknown vehicle.

The injured victim managed to untie himself after the suspects left the scene.

Ramphora says the victim noticed a TV, tablet, laptop and some of his beer was taken.

During the investigation on the scene, it was established that the perpetrators had gained entry to the smallholding by jumping over the brick wall.

They then accessed the house through forcing open the back door.

The victim went to a nearby hospital for treatment.
