Telkom store hit by robbers

Four suspects take off with iPhones and other stolen goods from Telkom.

Four suspects robbed the Telkom shop in the Springs Mall on Tuesday.

The Telkom offices at the Springs Mall were robbed of iPhones and other equipment on Tuesday morning.

Police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora says four men, two armed with firearms, stormed into the Telkom shop at about 10.40am.

They informed staff members, who were attending to clients, to move to the store room.

“Two of the suspects then forced the staff and clients into the store room,” says Ramphora.

These two unarmed suspects stripped the store of its stock.

While the duo was taking the stock, the other two armed suspects were chasing people away at the entrance to the shop.

The four suspects fled the scene in two vehicles.

They were driving a silver Mercedes Benz and a blue Hyundai.

The police are investigating a case of business robbery.

Amoret D’Arrigo, Springs Mall marketing manager says no one was injured and no shots were fired during the robbery.

“We are giving our full support to the police investigation, and provided them with video footage,” she says.

At Springs Mall, the safety and security of our shoppers comes first.

“We have extensive security measures in place and we work closely with the police, our security providers and tenants to provide a very safe shopping experience,” says D’Arrigo.
