Sentenced for rape and kidnapping

A 24-year-old KwaThema man will spend 23 years in prison.

Prince Mahlangu was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for rape and three years for kidnapping in the Springs Magistrate’s Court last Tuesday.

The sentences will run concurrently.

The court ordered Mahlangu’s name to be added to the national register for sexual offenders and in the national child protection register.

“He was found unsuitable to work with children,” says Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesperson.

Mahlangu was arrested July 23, 2016, the same day he kidnapped and raped a child (age unknown) in KwaThema.

He will serve his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
