Station commander applaud SAPS for their enthusiasm in preventing crime.

Eleven suspects were arrested during a recent Ekurhuleni East cluster operation held in Daggafontein.

The operation took place between 10am and 2pm.

Police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says the 11 suspects are also illegal immigrants.

The suspects are aged between 18 and 41 years.

The purpose of the operation was to curb possession of unlicensed firearms, armed robberies, house robberies and murder in Daggafontein, which police believes are caused by illegal miners.

He adds police also confiscated illegal mining equipment.

“The operation was successful and all the suspects will be charged with illegal mining,” says Ramphora

Springs station commander, Brig Thembeka Gwebushe, applauded the members for their enthusiasm to prevent crime and also for the arrests.

The suspects will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
