Bogus customer pulls out firearm

Suspects take copper and cash during business robbery.

A business robbery occurred in Clydesdale Road, Daggafontein on Saturday.

When the security guard on duty received a call from a man who inquired about the business operating times, he took his cellphone number.

“At 6pm, two men approached the gate and phoned the guard, who recognised the number and opened the gate for them,” says SAPS spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

While weighing the scrap metal, one of the men suddenly pointed a firearm at the guard and tied him up with wire.

Ramphora says the men took R900 in cash, and copper worth about R1 400, before they fled the scene on foot.

No one was injured and police are investigating a case of business robbery.
