A shack fire in the Daggafontein Informal Settlement resulted in the death of a man on Saturday.
Witnesses identified the man as Dada Ndlovu (29).
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says they received information about the fire at 1am.
When the police arrived on the scene they found the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Services there already.
The deceased’s body was discovered after the fire was extinguished.
Ramphora says the deceased was allegedly the shack owner and lived alone.
“We have opened an inquest to investigate what exactly happened,” says Ramphora.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
