Company driver delivers stolen goods

Suspects get away with stolen goods to the value of R500 000.

While on routine patrol in Largo, a security guard was approached by five suspects who ordered him to lie down in Van Niekerk Street, last Saturday.

One of the suspects, armed with a firearm, pointed the gun at the guard.

It was around 11pm when the suspects tied up the security guard and two truck drivers with shoelaces.

SAPS spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the suspects instructed the security guard to take them to the storeroom where the new tyres and batteries are being kept.

A third driver arrived on the scene with a truck.

“The suspect instructed the third driver to load the tyres and batteries on the truck,” says Ramphora.

He says the driver alleges the load was delivered at an unknown place in KwaThema where there was transport waiting for the suspects.

All the tyres and batteries were allegedly offloaded and the driver returned to the business in Largo.

Ramphora says the estimated value of the stolen goods is about R500 000.

No shots were fired.
