Robbers target business in Strubenvale

Suspects gain entry to premises by removing precast slabs.

Four suspects tied a security guard up during a business robbery in Medeley Street, Strubenvale on Monday morning.

According to the owner of the business, concrete slabs were allegedly removed at the back of the property.

He believes that this is where the suspects gained entry to the premises between midnight and 5.15am.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, a spokesman for the Springs police, says the guard was tied up at with shoelaces and held at gunpoint.

Truck batteries, a tractor battery and 15 truck tyres were stolen.

The estimated value of the stolen goods is about R99 600.

Police will have a look at the video footage made available by the business owner.

“We do trust the footage will help us with our investigation,” says Ramphora.
