Shots fired during business robbery

Two shots fired during a business robbery in the CBD.

While a business owner was helping a customer, six suspects entered Popular Supermarket in Third Street, CBD on Friday.

Four suspects were armed with firearms.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesperson says the men entered the shop at 7.05pm and instructed everyone inside the supermarket to lie down.

One of the armed suspects hit the business owner on his shoulder with his firearm butt.

The suspects took cigarettes and groceries as well as about R7 000 in cash from the till.

“Two shots were fired but no one was hit by the bullets,” says Ramphora.

The suspects fled the scene on foot.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery.
