Bogus customers rob shop

Bogus customer surprises business owner.

Three suspects, pretending to be customers, robbed a business in Second Street, CBD, on Tuesday.

One suspect, armed with a firearm, approached the counter and ordered chips.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the business owner claims the suspect demanded the money from the till.

Ramphora says the second and third suspects then approached the owner and told him to be quiet.

“They were allegedly armed with big knives,” he says.

The trio instructed the owner to lie down on the floor.

They tied his hands behind his back using his belt.

The suspects stole cash to the amount of R2 300 as well as the owner’s cellphone before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery.
