However, the group now states they have had to stop using the equipment as there are no lights.
Themba Gadebe, spokesperson of the Ekurhuleni Metro, says the park is open until 6pm in the evening.
“The gym equipment was installed for all the community of Springs to use while visiting the park during the day.
“It is not for night purposes.”
He adds the department has not planned to install electricity to light the park, as the park closes at 6pm in terms of the by-laws.
The community is thus at liberty to use the gym equipment at Windmill Park until the park closes.
