Disgruntled employees steal from former employer

Identified former employees are suspects after a break-into their former employees premises and getting away with valuables.

Three former employees of Plot 87 Phlox Road, Welgedacht Smallholdings broke into the company premises and fled the scene with some of the company valuables, on Wednesday evening.

It is alleged they forced an on-duty security guard at gun point to escort them to the living quarters of the drivers on Wednesday evening.

It is alleged the suspects broke one of the windows of the rooms and forced the door open.

Springs police spokesperson, Captain Johanness Ramphora, says they forced the victim to one of the rooms. They also forced another victim they came across in the house, to the room. Both were tied up and covered with a blanket.

“The suspects were armed with R4 or R5 rifles and 9mm pistols.

“One of the suspects wearing a balaclava, is alleged to be a former security officer who worked for the company six months ago.

“The victims recognised him by the way he walked.

“The second suspect without the balaclava, was identified as a former driver who was fired after stealing diesel from the business,” says Ramphora.

Ramphora explains that the suspects took 17 tyres to the value of R190 000 and a Golf 4, 2004 model to the value of R42 000.

Another vehicle was also taken.

“They took linen, a TV set and victims’ cellphones to the value of R35 0000,” he says.

Ramphora says two of the suspects left the scene with a truck and the Golf.

“The other suspect left the scene by taking a tyre and placing it against the wall to climb over into the Enviro Serve property,” he says.
