Presidents Dam resident woken up by robbers

Robbers leave behind TV after being spotted by a security official.

Robbers targeted a house in Rooibekkie Street, Presidents Dam, on Tuesday morning.

At 2.15am, three suspects woke up a man and instructed him to “keep quiet”.

SAPS spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the suspects asked several questions including “where are the cash and firearms”.

The suspects tied up the victim with shoelaces.

“One of the suspects hit the victim over the head with a steel pipe,” says Ramphora.

Three laptops, two cellphones and a TV was taken from the house when the suspects fled the scene.

A security official patrolling the streets saw three suspects removing precast walling slabs in Rooibekkie Street.

“When the suspects noticed the security official they ran away, but left behind the TV,” says Ramphora.

The rest of the stolen goods were not recovered.

SAPS are investigating a case of house robbery.
