Vandals cut newly erected fence

The newly erected fence around O’Hagans was welcomed by most businesses and residents in the area.

However, their joy was short-lived, as three squares have already been removed from the fence to allow access to the property.

Koos Erasmus claims the metro replaced the first hole a few months ago, but since then two more squares have been cut out of the fence.

“We are fighting a losing battle,” he says.

Erasmus, who is the greenskeeper at Springs Country Club, says they have seen and experienced many things at the golf club, but were disappointed when they saw the holes cut in the fence.

“Why can’t people just use the road to walk to the Springs Mall or to the CBD? Why do they have to take a shortcut through the golf course?” he says.

Erasmus says they hope the metro will start phase two and the golf course will be fenced off as well during this phase.

The holes in the fence have become a nightmare, he says, and they hope the metro will soon come up with a solution to the problem.

Questions about the above were sent to the metro two weeks ago, but no response was forthcoming at the time of publishing.
