Gogo scammed of thousands by fake police officers

Springs police are looking for a woman for questioning in connection with the theft of cash from an elderly woman.

She allegedly went into a bank with a senior citizen (age unknown) who withdrew R21 800 from her bank account.

SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says, when the two women left the bank, they walked to a parked vehicle where three men, who posed as police officers, allegedly offered to assist the senior citizen.

“The woman fell victim to a scam where all her money was taken,” says Ramphora.

Her robbers allegedly drove around with her for quite a while before they dropped her off at an unknown location and fled the scene with the cash.

Ramphora says the robbers also took the victim’s bank card and her ID.
