The South African qualifier of the Dance World Cup are for children and young adults aged five to 25 years.
“To qualify each dancer had to obtain 70%,” says Mariska Wolmarans, dance teacher.

The following 10 dancers qualified to represent South Africa in the Dance World Cup in Germany, from June 24 to July 1:
Jaulize Alberts (12) qualified in hip-hop solo and obtained third place in group hip-hop while Amy-Jane Labuschagne (18) won third place in the group hip-hop.
Michelle Fourie (14) obtained fifth place in the jazz and hip-hop duets as well as a third place in the group hip-hop.
Teenager Patrick Nkosi (18) won third place in hip-hop solo as well as in the group hip-hop.
Kara Steyn (6) and Dawsyn Janse van Rensburg (7) qualified in their jazz solo sessions.
Melinde Shanahan (16) achieved third place in the hip-hop solo and group hip-hop.
Eight-year-old Lune Ras and Angelique De Wet (12) just missed the qualification in jazz solo.

Ayden Janse van Rensburg (13) qualified in his solo contemporary dance session.
He took second place in hip-hop solo, third place in the group hip-hop, fifth place in the hip-hop duet and jazz duet.
Mariska says it was an exhausting week but was very worthwhile.
