Four robbers target church in Persida

The SAPS is investigating a case of business robbery following an incident at Jameah Church and Muslim School in Katboschfontein Road, Persida, on Friday.

Spokesman for the police Captain Johannes Ramphora says one of the students was praying at 2am when four suspects forced open the security and glass door of the church.

The suspects tied the student’s hands and feet and told him “if you scream we will kill you”.

Ramphora says the suspects used a grinder to open the safe door and took a bag of passports from the safe.

The suspects also fled the scene with the student’s cellphone.

“We are not sure yet what else was taken as the suspects also broke into the church office,” says Ramphora.
