The incident took place in First Avenue, Bakerton, at 5pm.
The police were called to the scene after a shooting was reported and on arrival they found a man had been shot and taken to hospital by a community member.

SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says it is not clear what injuries the man sustained.
“Six cartridges and one live round of ammunition were found on the scene,” says Ramphora.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
