Children ask hijackers for schoolbags – Struisbult

A silver BMW 320D was hijacked in Struisbult on Thursday at around 6.30am when its owner was leaving for work.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the man walked to his vehicle when he saw a BMW 3 series stop behind his car.

“Three suspects, including the driver, got out of the car and pointed firearms at the victim and demanded his car keys,” says Ramphora.

“The victim’s two children were inside the car when the incident occurred.”

The suspects ordered the children to get out of the vehicle, but the children asked if they could get their schoolbags out.

“They allowed the children to retrieve their schoolbags and instructed them to lie down as they drove away.”

No shots were fired.
