Half way in fitness challenge

East Rand Stereo presenters Danny Painter and Herman Human are almost half way in their fitness challenge.

The competition, which started as a New Year’s eve idea, will see the two vying to raise the most money for their chosen charity and competing to see who is fittest by the middle of the year.

Herman, who is supporting Operation Snowdrop, is being trained by Marelize Stander, a personal trainer and body fitness athlete who says she has been in the fitness industry since she was five years old

“My dad, George Stander, also a personal trainer and bodybuilder, inspired me from a young age,” she says.

“I’ve competed in various sports, ranging from hockey, soccer and cycling to playing provincial golf.

“For the past five years I’ve been competing as a professional bodybuilder and this made me realise how important a healthy lifestyle is.”

Marelize is currently a personal trainer at Hugenote High School at Planet Vision Fitness gym and says it is an honour to be part of 93.9’s initiative to raise money for charity.
