Thief shoots man twice in chest for his tekkies

A man was shot twice in his upper body over a pair of tekkies on Tuesday.

The incident took place at about 9.30pm, in Eight Street, CBD.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesman, the victim allegedly received a phone call from someone he knew.

When this man arrived at the gate he was accompanied by an unknown man.

Ramphora says the trio then went into the room which was rented by the victim and the victim showed the man a pair of tekkies.

The man pulled out a firearm and allegedly fired two shots at the victim.

The victim was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital for treatment.

Ramphora says the suspect left his old tekkies and a backpack at the victim’s house and fled the scene.

The victim was discharged from hospital on Wednesday.
