Springs resident Tamzin Volschenk complains that the wheelie bins were stolen twice in January from outside their business in Eagle Road, Selcourt.
She feels the metro is to blame for the theft of her bins.

“They never collect the bins on time, so they stand outside for three days, easy accessible for robbers,” she says.
She refuses to buy another bin and claims the metro doesn’t collect the black bags.
“Why should we pay for new bins when council is to blame for the bins being left on the pavement overnight?” she asks.
Metro spokesman Themba Gadebe says residents don’t pay for lost or stolen bins.
“If the bins are stolen, we will replace them for free.
“All the resident should provide is an affidavit stating that the bin was stolen,” he says.
“Unfortunately, there is no specific address for the complainant to enable us to determine the cause of the problem.”

He says the people roaming the streets with marked or unmarked wheelie bins is a matter of concern for the waste management department.
“We acknowledge the need to work closely with relevant law enforcement agencies on this matter,” he adds.
