A 57-year-old man was shot dead in the driveway of his house in Tiptol Road, Daggafontein at 12.40pm on February 13.

SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora said the deceased and his family stopped in front of their house and his wife and children got out of the vehicle.

Two suspects allegedly approached the vehicle when the wife opened the gate.

“One of the suspects knocked on the window of the deceased and ordered him to ‘get out,’ ” says Ramphora.

He claims when the deceased’s wife saw the armed suspect she ran to the house to call one of her children.

“The armed suspect shot the man in his chest and shot the son (age unknown) coming from the house,” says Ramphora.

Paramedics declared the man dead on the scene and took the son, who sustained a bullet wound to his leg, to a nearby hospital for treatment.
