Armed trio takes cellphones and cash

A Slovo Park resident was robbed of two cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash during a house robbery in Mahlabandlovu Street, on Tuesday evening.

It is alleged that the man heard loud voices outside his room at about 10.50pm, but decided not to investigate.

It was only when it was quiet that he went outside and noticed the shadows of three people.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the resident went to his neighbour to ask about the loud voices.

The residents talked outside and then decided to return to their rooms, but were surprised by three armed suspects.

“The three armed suspects pushed them into the main house and ordered them to lie down,” he says.

One of the suspects stayed with the two residents and took a cellphone while the other two suspects left the house.

It was only after the suspects left that the residents returned to their rooms.

“The one resident then noticed two cellphones were gone, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash,” says Ramphora.
