Petersfield resident (83) is tied up by armed man

An 83-year-old man was tied up by an armed suspect at Kent Circle, Petersfield on Wednesday.

The senior citizen was asleep at 1pm, when his domestic worker came running into his bedroom.

SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says she was followed by a man armed with a screwdriver.

“The suspect managed to tie both victims up,” he says.

All that is allegedly reported missing from the house is the domestic worker’s cellphone.

Ramphora says the man gained entry to the house through the open backdoor, which was left open while the domestic worker was hanging the washing outside.

The suspect fled the scene on foot with the stolen cellphone.
