Police investigate rape allegation

A 27-year-old woman, from Nelspruit, claims to have been raped while visiting her sister in Bakerton, on Saturday.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the woman, her sister and a friend had gone out but decided to return to the sister’s house and walked home at 10.30pm.

They were apparently approached by three men while walking.

“The men allegedly each grabbed a woman,” says Ramphora.

“The victim says one of the men assaulted her, pulled her into an open field and threatened to kill her if she fought him. He then allegedly undressed and raped her.

“A group of four men approached and asked the suspect why he was raping the woman.

“The suspect ran away and the four men took the victim to the suspect’s mother’s house.”
