Road safety tips for a safe journey

If you'll be driving over the festive season, it's very important to obey the rules of the road to ensure you and your passenger remain safe at all times.

Some of the road safety tips shared on the arrivealive.co.za website include:

• Carrying your driver’s license with you at all times.

• Making sure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition, before departure.

• Avoid overloading your vehicle.

• Not using your cellphone while you drive.

• Having a good rest before you embark on your journey.

• Taking safety breaks every two hours or 200km.

• Not drinking and driving.

• Trying to recognise potentially dangerous drivers on – and pedestrians alongside – the road and keep well clear of them.

• Always wear your seat belt and see that everyone in the car is wearing theirs.

• Stay within the speed limit at all times.

Avoid being involved in road accidents and fatalities, by making sure that you follow road rules. Drive patiently and cautiously.
