Shopkeeper hit over head, robbed

A suspect posing as a customer hit a shopkeeper over the head with a cold drink bottle at a shop in Fifth Avenue, in the CBD, on Wednesday.

According to SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora two men entered the store.

One pretended to want to buy a cold drink while the other waited at the entrance.

The suspects allegedly told the shopkeeper they didn’t have enough money to pay for the cold drink and then one of them hit the shopkeeper twice over the head with the bottle.

“The suspects then demanded cash and took money from the till and from under the counter,” says Ramphora.

The suspects also took three new cellphones from the shop and fled the scene on foot.

Ramphora says the victim sustained minor injuries.
