Police warn parents about losing children during shopping

Springs police have warned parents to refrain from losing their children in town, during their shopping over the festive season.

This follows numerous incidents over the past three weeks, when parents have gone shopping in the Springs CBD with their toddlers, but the children end up lost.

These children are between the ages of two to four years old.

“As the police, we’re very concerned about the number of parents losing or leaving their children in town, during shopping.

“So far, we’ve had five of these cases – which then means we have to go around trying to trace these parents.

“What’s worrying is that it seems like parents are more concerned about shopping, than the safety of their children,” says Capt Johannes Ramphora.

He warns that this should serve as a warning to parents, because if the problem persists, they’ll be forced to charge parents for negligence.
