Armed suspect takes goods worth R10 000 in Krugersrus

An armed suspect covered his two victims with a blanket while robbing their house in Saint Blaze Street, Krugersrus on Tuesday.

While a 21-year-old man was studying in the lounge at 1pm, he noticed an armed suspect pointing a 9mm pistol at him.

“The man’s sister (age unknown) was lying in her bedroom at the time,” says Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesman.

The suspect ordered the man to lie down on the floor in his sister’s bedroom and covered both victims with blankets and locked them in the room. According to Ramphora the man claims he heard more than one voice in the house.

“The sister texted a message to their neighbour who, after a while, unlocked the bedroom door,” says Ramphora.

The victims found a laptop, two tablets, two wristwatches, a cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen from the house.

The suspects gained entry to the house through an open front door.

Ramphora says during the festive season people should be vigilant and keep their doors locked.
