Three companies provide the elderly with company

Residents of Presidensia were spoiled with a braai and personlised gifts by three companies on Friday.

Three companies joined forces and hosted a fun-filled day for 169 elderly residents of Presidentia on Friday afternoon.

CJ Vogel, of one of the companies, says that they’ve organised a yearly charity function in Brakpan for the past 13 years, but they decided to shift their focus to the Springs community, as they’ve opened a new branch here this year.

“Although these residents are on a state pension, their real need is for company and that’s what we’re here to give them,” says CJ.

A spread of braaivleis, boerewors rolls, pasta salads, chips and cold drinks was prepared by company employees; and enjoyed together by everyone.

“Everyone here is going home with a happy heart today,” resident Petra Verwey says.

“So many people don’t have this opportunity,” she added.
