Two hijackers surprise sleeping driver

The driver of a VW Caddy was surprised by two suspects while he was asleep at 9pm, waiting for his friends on the corner of Fourth Street and Second Avenue, CBD on Saturday.

One of the suspects pulled out a knife and attacked the driver while the second suspect searched the driver.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman says the driver sustained a cut to his right wrist.

The suspects pulled the driver out of the car and pushed him to the ground.

“They took the vehicle keys, got into the vehicle and drove off,” he says.

The victim ran to his friends at a nearby tavern, who ran to the scene, but the hijackers had already left.

A case of hijacking was opened and the police are investigating the case.
