Police arrest two teenagers

Springs police arrested two suspects while doing routine patrols in Ramona Street, Selection Park on Tuesday.

Springs police spokesman Amanda Greybe says they noticed two suspicious-looking men and when they parked their vehicle the two suspects fled on foot.

The police managed to catch them both and searched them.

Greybe says they found a firearm on the one suspect and a cellphone on the other suspect.

The duo, both 19 years of age, were arrested and taken to the police cells.

“One suspect was charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition while the other one was charged with possession of stolen property,” says Greybe.

The suspects could allegedly not explain who the firearm and cellphone belonged to.
