Woman (63) twists suspect’s finger

A 63-year-old woman bent a suspect's finger to try and prevent him from opening her back door in Pridgeon Street, Selection Park at 7am on Tuesday.

According to Amanda Greybe, Springs police spokesman, the woman was in her bedroom when she heard a noise in the kitchen.

After investigating the origin of the noise for the second time, she noticed four suspects trying to gain entry through the back door.

Greybe says the woman saw the kitchen window was open and saw one of the suspect’s arms through the window fiddling with the door knob.

She allegedly started hitting his arm with her fist, but then twisted one of his fingers to try and release his grip from the door handle.

Greybe says the woman was terrified when she realised the four suspects were about to open the back door.

She took her mother (age unknown) and hid in a walk-in cupboard.

The suspects allegedly found them there and one of them hit the woman (63) behind her head and asked for money and the safe.

The suspects left the scene with a silver trunk, a wristwatch, handbag, tablet and a cellphone.

Greybe says the woman claims the suspects used screwdrivers to gain entry through the back door.

A house robbery case was opened at the police station.
