Biker club from the East Rand showed their support for a special needs boy at a bikini bike wash event on Saturday.

Local Springs resident Hennie Nel held a fundraiser in support of The Revan du Toit Trust on Saturday at The Vineyard.

Hennie, who rides for the biker club Sting, organised a bikini bike wash day in an attempt to raise R38 000 for two-year-old Revan du Toit who was born with microcephaly and epilepsy.

Microcephaly is a rare medical condition where the brain and head are smaller than normal so although Revan is almost three years old, he still functions at a three-month-old level.

Revan needs a standing frame which will assist with the development of his bones and joints.

It will help him stand and avoid deformation of his bone structure.

Donations streamed in from biker clubs from across the East Rand and are expected to continue throughout this week.

“There is a big chance that we will achieve our goal,” says Hennie.

Revan’s mother and full-time carer Zandria Durand has made it her mission to spread awareness of the medical condition.

“Even though he is a special needs baby, he is my angel and I will love him until I can’t love anymore which will never happen,” says Zandria.

The goal of the trust is to help the family financially.

Revan’s needs to see a physio-, occupational-, and speech therapist at least once a week, a pediatrician every two to four months, and a pediatric neurologist twice per year.

He also has to go for a MRI and CT scan every six months.
