This is what you can expect at the pumps come month-end

Hold the joy of reduced fuel prices, as a reverse effect may take place at month-end.

According to the Automobile Association (AA), the combined weaker rand and stronger international petroleum prices will have a negative impact at the pumps.

The AA expects diesel and paraffin to increase by around 24c per litre and states that current data shows the petrol hike to be around 51c per litre.

“With the rand still on a weakening trend against the US dollar, the fuel price move at the end of September will depend largely on international petroleum prices.”

The association adds that any significant international event which leads to further oil price strength is almost certain to be bad news at the pumps for South Africans.
