Seven people injured in Nigel Road accident

Accident leaves seven people with minor to serious injuries.

A white Ford Ranger double cab bakkie overturned in Nigel Road, just off Wanderer Road, in Selcourt, on Saturday.

According to one of the passengers, Tshego Mrubata (17), who sustained only an injury to his hand, they were on their way home at 11.55am, in Sharon Park, to get ready for a church function in Payneville on Saturday afternoon.

Six more people sustained serious head and other injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

One of the passengers allegedly complained about chest pains and was also transported to a nearby hospital.

Mrubata says they returned from Springs after fetching three more people, including a ”granny” of 85 years, who was to accompany them to the church event.

Within minutes of the accident the Selpark CPF was on the scene, and redirected the traffic along Wanderer Road.

Paramedics from Rescue24 Ambulance and EMPD officers arrived shortly thereafter, as well as paramedics from Netcare911, High Care Ambulance, Maponyane and other emergency services.

According to one of the paramedics on the scene, the 85-year-old woman was in a critical condition.
