Springs Clinic does its bit for Mandela Day

Springs Clinic presented its Nelson Mandela Day programme last Monday.

The programme consisted of health talks by different departments, as well as a soup kitchen for all community members who were in attendance.

“We wanted people to be educated about our procedures and processes here at the clinic,” says clinic head Madile Tshetlo.

“We also wanted to provide health education on issues relating to diabetes, men’s health, mental health and integrated clinical service management (ICMS).”

“It is important that people know about health issues and our procedures, so they can get the most efficient and quality service from us.”

Tshetlo says it is important that certain concepts are reinforced, in order for people to know what measures to take to ensure optimum health.

He adds that part of being healthy means being informed about health issues.

“This was a part of our thinking,” he says.

“We thought we should do something more by educating the community, as knowledge is power.”

Tshetlo says the provision of soup and bread for community members who visited the clinic was part of the ”ubuntu” the day represents.

The clinic is proud of the success of the programme and looks forward to continuing with Nelson Mandela Day every day.

“We are happy to have reached the number of community members we reached,” says Tshetlo.

“The event as been a true success.”

He adds that the clinic’s message throughout the whole day was one of inspiration.

“The late Nelson Mandela inspired many across the world through his legacy,” Tshetlo explains.

“We want people to carry that within them as well; it is the message we want to send out this Mandela Day.

“Be inspired and let that inspire other people; that is how we choose to remember the great man’s legacy.

“That is our message for this year.”
