Pollak Park resident receives 15 years for wife’s murder

Senzo Mbatha (34) has received his sentence, following the murder of his partner (age unknown) which took place at Pollak Park on August 16, 2014.

According to Springs police spokesman, Johannes Ramphora, at about 10am that morning, the couple had an argument when Mbatha shot the woman in the head, while she was on the street, carrying an eight-month old baby.

Eyewitnesses then called the police and an ambulance and the woman was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital for medical treatment.

The baby was unharmed; however, later that day the woman died while still in hospital.

A case of murder was opened and investigated and Mbatha was arrested the following day.

He made his first appearance at the Springs Regional Court on August 24, 2014 and on July 6, he was handed a sentence of 15 years and declared unfit to possess a firearm.
