Springs Boys’ High gives back

Recently a group of staff from Springs Boys’ High School (SBHS) with their Interact Club, which is part of the Rotary Programme, donated cat and dog food to the Benoni Animal Rescue Centre (BARC).

The food was collected by school learners.

“The school recently hosted an ‘Interact Inter-house’ Civvies Day,” says Gabi Willis, an educator at SBHS, “this included the school’s four sport houses competing against one another to see which house would collect the most pet food.”

Gabi says the proceeds amounted to a very generous donation of cat and dog food, which was then delivered to BARC.

“The learners had the opportunity to learn what BARC is about, as well as interact with staff and animals at the centre,” she says.

“It was an informative afternoon which gave the learners a chance to give back to the community.”

The school would like to thank Helen Theron, the Interact coordinator and an educator at the school.

“We are grateful for her coordination and the guidance she gives learners for such, and other, community projects,” adds Gabi.
