He allegedly slapped the woman across her mouth, ordered her to keep quiet and said he won’t hurt her.
According to the Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the suspect gained entry to the property through an open window.
“The suspect broke off the burglar bars of the dining room window,” he says.
The woman was asleep in her bedroom, at 2am, and was woken by a torch light shining in her face.
Ramphora says the suspect tied her up with an electric cable and searched the bedroom.
He took R5 000 in cash and left the house through the front door.
The suspect was not armed.
