Kidnap and murder suspect out on bail

Police arrested a 62-year-old man for kidnapping and murder last Thursday.

He allegedly kidnapped and murdered Mphasane Joshuan Mokoena last Tuesday.

The suspects appeared in the Springs Regional Court on Monday.

Bail of R2 000 was granted.

It is believed the suspect and his four accomplices went looking for Mokoena at his friend’s house in Mohlale Street in Phomolo Section at about 5.30pm.

According to W/O David Mphali, police spokesman, the suspects asked the deceased to go with them.

“This was the last time Mokoena was seen alive,” he says.

After the police and the community searched for the deceased, they came a cross an ambulance at Hlabangane Street in Tornado and upon inquiring, the police found the man.

Although he was still alive at the time, he was badly assaulted and stabbed in the head.

Mphali says Mokoena died shortly after he arrived at Pholosong Hospital.

“The other four suspects are still at large, but we appeal to them to come forward to assist us in solving the case,” he says.

The suspect is due to appear in court again on June 30.
