This comes after he was arrested for the rape of a woman in Gugulethu Informal Settlement on October 1, 2010.
Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says Sondlo was arrested four days after he raped the woman.
Sondlo followed the woman from Bakerton to Gugulethu where he grabbed and pulled her to an open field nearby, where he raped her.
Ramphora says the convicted man left the woman in the open field.
She immediately reported the case to the police, who arrested him four days later.
Sondlo will serve his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
