Presidentia gets a face-lift

Presidentia, an Ekurhuleni Metro housing complex in Paul Krugersoord, is currently undergoing a face-lift as part of phase one of the renovations.

Some of the roofs were painted, roof sheets were replaced and leaks repaired.

According to ward councillor Dean Stone new gutters were fitted and some of the units were painted.

He says the metro appointed contractors, for the first phase of the project, who started with the renovations and maintenance work in February.

Although only a few roofs and units have been painted, the contractors are still on site to complete the work.

Daphne Kriel’s unit has been painted and the carpets have been replaced with tiles.

“It was quite a mess when the metro contractors pulled out the carpets, but my place looks beautiful now and I am happy,” she says.

Joey Bennett, standing in for caretaker Petra Verwey, says they are pleased to see the metro is doing maintenance work at their complex.

“We are grateful for what the metro is doing to make the lives of the residents easier,” she says.

The senior citizens residing at Presidentia had complained about the cracked cement surrounding their units.

This posed a danger to the residents who are wheelchair-bound or make use of walking rings.

Bennett is happy to announce that even the cement has been fixed.
