Armed robbers threaten customers and employees

Six armed robbers stole cellphones and cash during a business robbery in The Avenues Shopping Centre, on Monday.

At about 2.10pm., the six men, armed with pistols, entered John Craig clothing store and threatened the employees and two customers.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, the robbers took the employees and the customers to the storeroom, where they were tied up and ordered to lie on the floor.

The robbers searched the storeroom, found a few cellphones in the safe and clothing on the floor.

Ramphora says the robbers then made their way back to the front of the store, where they opened the tills and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

They left the store on foot.

A business robbery case was opened at the police station.
