Bikers revive Springs

On Sunday, the Auxano Seventh Day Adventists Church in springs, hosted a fun day at the Springs Rugby Club.

The fun day was an initiative by the End Times Messenger Ministry (ETMM), under the Rev It Up revival, which is an initiative that first started in the United States and a concept of American pastor, Tom Hughes, who was also a special guest at the event.

The event was filled with great food, fun and games, blood donation services, various stalls, as well as slow biker races, to name a few activities that were available.

“The aim with this event is to bring people closer to the Lord,” explained Fred Kuter, who is the ETMM Treasurer.

Kuter elaborates on the concept of the event by detailing how the Bible Biker Ministries have come together with ETMM to run a campaign that changes the perception of biking and Christianity as being two opposing forces.

“A lot of people don’t associate bikers with the church,” said Kuter, “but we want to change that. Our message is, we are bikers and we are a ministry.”

Pastor Tom Hughes, who is originally from Ohio, United States, made a special appearance at the event preceding his one-week visit to South Africa.

“I am here for a week to conduct my sermons at the Auxano Seventh Day Adventists Church,” said Hughes. “I want to bring the Gospel and my testimony to the people of South Africa.”

Hughes also mentioned that he is not a first-time visitor in our country.

“I love South Africa,” he exclaimed. “Everything about it is beautiful: the country, the people, the warmth and love you feel when you enter this terrain.”

On this initiative, Hughes says that he wants people to look at him and be inspired, while relating to his humanity.

“It is important that people relate to bikers like they would any other person,” he said, “I am a mix of two worlds: I’m a biker and a pastor.”

He explained that his goal and purpose in life is to use his biking and his ministry to inspire other bikers, like himself, and anyone else who seeks salvation.

“It is time for bikers to take the Lord to the people,” he said.

Pastor Hughes will be in South Africa and preaching the Gospel every day for a week at the Auxano Seventh Day Adventists Church in Geduld, Springs, every evening from 7pm.

Hughes will be doing a series of sermons, based on his book, ‘The Skull and the Cross’ while trying to get people to receive the Lord’s message and give their lives to Christ.

Gert Vermaark, who is the president of the ETMM, would like to thank all the event sponsors and the community for making a success out of the event.

“Without the support of our key players, we would not have had such a great turnout and event”, said Vermaak.
